Have you ever not been able to sleep, and you just lay in darkness with your thoughts? You want so badly to go to sleep but no matter how tight you close your eyes and squeeze your pillow, you just can’t do it? You may watch television, scroll your phone, exercise…whatever…but still just can’t seem to catch that good sleep…so you go back to lay in the darkness with your thoughts. You probably have asked God a few times to just let you go to sleep (I know I do). But even with that you still may not be able to quite get to sleep. Why?
In the years I have been on this earth, I have found myself many a times not being able to go to sleep and just sitting in the dark. I hope so badly for God to reveal the reason that I can’t sleep if I don’t already know it. I have found that when I begin to pray, truly pray, then God begins to work. I may even get up and read my Bible and turn on music and begin to worship. This brings me peace. I realize that God is that flare in the sky when I can’t see anything else. It’s a continuous flare. It never goes out. Before I even call out for help, God’s light is already lighting up the darkness.
If you find yourself in a position of lying in the darkness, take comfort that God is lying there right beside you. His light is shining bright in the darkness. His love is covering you and His peace is there. You need to only be still. Meditate on Him. Let Him in to every single area, and give it all to Him. You will sleep so good. When you wake in the morning, remember to hold on to that peace from the night. The peace isn’t just for a moment, but you have a lifetime supply of it! Jesus is peace. He wants you to hold on tight to it. Don’t believe for a second that His peace wasn’t left with you.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. ~John 14:27
Smile and be a blessing!
If you don’t know Jesus as your Savior, say this prayer:
Jesus, thank you. I believe that you came, died, and rose again. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me. Come live inside of me. In Jesus name. Amen!
You are saved! Walk in all that He has for you!
