I started out this blog post, going a totally different direction, but as I was almost finished I smiled and said, “God is so good!” I was sad when I began typing. I had been crying, and just wanted to encourage y’all to turn your sadness into gladness. I was looking at some scriptures on comfort and God as always showed Himself strong! His Word as I say so often has everything you need. I am not selfish with God’s Word because it’s for everyone. So today, if you are hurting and need a reason to smile through whatever it is that you are going through, here are just a few scriptures:
This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life.
Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you
mountains! For the Lord comforts His people and will have compassion on His
afflicted ones. ~Isaiah 49:13
May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by
His grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your
hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
~2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so
that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. ~Matthew 5:4
When your heart is hurting, I encourage you to turn to the Word. There are so many people in the Bible that went through many trials and tribulations, but God was there through it all! He brought joy to their hearts. He renewed them time and time again. He comforts His children. God is so GOOD!
I encourage you to take a moment and look back over your life, no matter what trials and tribulations you have faced, or may still be facing, and see God’s goodness through it all. I can start you off: you are breathing! God is still breathing life in you for a purpose, and that purpose is not to be in a place of darkness, but to keep pressing toward the His light for your life.
I pray that your heart is encouraged today. I pray that if you don’t know Jesus as your Lord and Savior that you give your heart to Him today. Ask Him for forgiveness of your sins, to cleanse you, and to come live inside of you. Believe that He came, and died so that you can be saved. In Jesus name, AMEN!
Smile and be a blessing!
