My son is fully potty trained. He wears underwear, and knows when to go. But yet and still, he still asks me for help. The funny thing is, I don’t help him at all, he just wants to know I am close by, just in case he “needs me” for assistance. Today, was not different, but when he asked me, I thought of the Father. I thought how often that I know exactly what to do and how to do it but I need the reassurance that God is still right beside me. I hope I’m not alone in this…gee whiz! Lol
I started wondering, why is it that even for the small things I still find myself at times, double checking. I did the same thing growing up with my own Father. I was seeking his approval. But today, I realized that perhaps I am lacking confidence at times even on the small things. What’s funny is, I teach my children to have confidence in themselves and the things they have learned and to know that God is right there with them. I encourage them to call out to God to help them to remember the things that they have learned and that He will be right there for them. I encourage you to know that he will do the same for you. Have confidence and know that he meant what he said when he said, “he will never leave you or forsake you.”
Don’t’ feel embarrassed that you still have to call on God. God wants us to call on him. He never wants you to let go of him, but he does want you to have the confidence to stand firm on all that you have been taught and all that he has shown you. Just as we want to know that we can go to our own earthly Father (or whomever you look up to) that you can always go to him. He won’t laugh at you or put you down because you’ve forgotten or perhaps lack a bit of courage. He will give you the reassurance and a nudge to go forth and stand up and do all that he has called you to do. It’s in you and you can do it.
So don’t be afraid to go to him. And also, be confident in what you know, and don’t second guess yourself when you know how to do it. Just know that just as I am right outside the bathroom door in case my son needs me, that God is right outside your door. He tells us if we seek and we will find, ask and it shall be given and to knock and the door will be opened…he didn’t say he wouldn’t be there for the small things. Trust and believe that he is there for you and wants you to turn to him for help and he will always show you the way.
Smile and be a blessing
