So, we see so many people now a days, it may even be you, that don’t love themselves. They may find one thing wrong and then pick at it so badly that they see there is something not so perfect somewhere else too. Or maybe they fix it and then go searching for something else to fix about themselves. But my question is, did you love yourself to begin with and will picking at yourself make you love yourself more? Now don’t get me wrong, there are areas in which we need to grow and do better in, but I’m speaking of loving yourself during your journey no matter what!
The Bible tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Do you believe that? God Almighty made you so it has to be true, right? Yep, it is right. Take a look at yourself in the mirror and what do you see? Examine your heart. What do you see? If you don’t see His light and beauty shining, then it is time to evaluate yourself.
So, here’s a piece of my story. I didn’t like myself. Heck, a lot of times I didn’t love myself. It started when I was young. I was compared to my sisters physically and guess what, I didn’t measure up to them. People found so many things that just weren’t right with me. And then I was compared mentally and even spiritually to another sister of mine. My goodness I just couldn’t cut it. So at one point I tried and tried to measure up to them, and then I just stopped. I was so down on myself that I took so much bad from people, because I didn’t think I was worthy of anything good. But guess what, I thank God for JESUS! Because I knew Him and remembered what He said about me! Sadly, I didn’t truly believe it when I first heard it, but I’m so thankful that it was planted in my ear and stuck to my heart. So to God be the glory, aye!
My purpose isn’t anyone’s purpose but mine. There is only one Nikita for me and that’s me! I had to choose to love myself no matter what! I’m so glad I did because so many more things have happened in my life that would make me be hard on myself. But His love for me, is so much more than enough. It always strengthens and encourages me to look in the mirror and say, “I am His. I am beautiful. I have purpose. I am me.”
If you don’t love yourself, I pray that you will look in the mirror and begin today. There is no blemish on you that isn’t beautiful. A scar on you that isn’t beautiful. I say this because it’s part of you. Take the negativity that people have said or maybe even you have said and use it for your good. Speak the opposite! Speak life, love and encourage yourself. Walk in your beauty and in your freedom that Christ gave you!
Smile and Be a Blessing!
