So, it’s pumpkin season. Everywhere I turn there is pumpkin this and pumpkin that….and boy does it make me HAPPY! I am a fall junkie and not just a fall junkie, but a pumpkin junkie. I mean, I just ate a pumpkin spice Twinkie for the first time! Thankfully I just ate one for 130 calories so I don’t feel bad at all 🙂 Anywho, there is an overabundance of pumpkins….but it still seems like there are never enough of them! I even want to drink it. This year I plan to make one mean pumpkin cider! But will that be enough?
It got me to thinking that in our culture, for a lot of people, there is just never enough, even when we know that we have enough already. Do you ever feel that way? I mean, we are human. The beauty is catching ourselves in it. The Bible speaks on it. We all hunger and thirst but for what? Do we hunger and thirst for him like we do those bangin’ boots that we just have to have? Or that new car that we so need (even though we already have a vehicle that runs as it’s supposed too). Or do we want to have more food in the fridge, although we already have plenty to eat and even flowing clean water to drink?
Today I read this scripture:
Trust in the Lord, and do good. Dwell in the land, and feed on his faithfulness. Psalm 37:3
I read this and thought, oh yes! Think about it…everything starts with faith. We need things, you know, like food, clothing, and shelter. We just “know” these things will be provided….why? Because of our faith. We must have some if we believe that God is going to do what his word says…
“Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” ~Psalm 107:8-9
The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked. ~Proverbs 10:3
and Jesus said “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” ~John 6:35
Um, I don’t know about you but I thank God for Jesus! Never hungry or thirsty! Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes!
What are you thirsty and hungry for when you wake up? Always wake up thirsty and hungry for Him. God is who provides every single thing that you need every day and also your desires. Keep your eyes on Him and he will always fill you each and every day. Stay hungry and stay thirsty and just watch God’s work unfold. And remember you are SO not along in your journey.
Smile and be a blessing!
